  • Printable label/gift tag

Ingredients that go in the Jar

  • 1 ⅓ cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup old fashioned oats
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ¾ cup chocolate chips
  • ¾ cup M&M candies

Ingredients to add to the jar’s contents when making the cookies:

  • ½ cup butter room temperature
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 egg

Instructions to Fill the Jar

  • In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  • In the jar, layer ingredients in this order, pressing each down between additions: flour mixture, M&Ms, brown sugar, white sugar, oats, chocolate chips. TIP: A funnel is very helpful when adding the flour.
  • Seal and attach gift tag.

Instructions to Make the Cookies

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, beat butter until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla and beat until blended.
  • Add the contents of the jar to the bowl and stir to combine. The mixture will be thick.
  • Using a cookie scoop, drop cookies on to a baking sheet.
  • Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until the cookies begin to brown on the edges.
  • Remove from the oven and allow the cookies to rest on the cookie sheet for 5 minutes before transferring cookies to a wire rack to cool completely.

The cookies will keep for up to one week stored in an airtight container.  Please note that nutrition facts are subject to change based on your choice of ingredients. If you don't have M&Ms, you may substitute chocolate chips or another flavored chip of your choice.
