>The C Word is a new documentary by director Meghan L. O’Hara, but it’s much more than just another doc about cancer.
The C Word is so much more than a documentary about cancer
It’s a good-humored film about what cancer is, how and why it’s making us sick, and how to stop it. Narrated and executive produced by Morgan Freeman, the ‘Hollywood voice of God’ adds a lighthearted warmth to the film. Most people know O’Hara as one of the producers of Michael Moore’s Oscar-winning documentary Sicko, about the U.S. health https://ampills.com/mens-health/levitra-professional/ care crisis and health insurance industry. Shortly after O’Hara’s career high of winning an Oscar, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. As a survivor, she decided to write and direct a film that takes us on a journey with her and that of celebrated French neuroscientist, Dr. David Servan-Schreiber. Servan-Schreiber learned of his brain tumor diagnosis while in medical school. They sought to discover what cancer is and what causes it.
You will fall in love with Dr. Servan-Schreiber and his resilience to save lives, even though the traditional western medical establishment is against him and his alternative preventative strategies and regimine. “Cancer changes you, we all know this – we see it everywhere. But how often do we think: I can change cancer?” said director, Meghan L. O’Hara
Cancer changes you, we all know this. But how often do we ask “can I change cancer?”
Is cancer preventable?
The C Word humorously aims its lens at the multi-level, systematic failings of our society. It looks at:
- our habits that predispose us to disease,
- western medicine’s fixation on treatment, and
- our reliance upon a solution with a pill, instead of addressing the root causes of our ailments.
The message of The C Word is that cancer is preventable.
The documentary’s main message is that cancer is preventable. Servan-Schreiber who at the time researched and wrote books such as “Anticancer: The new way of life” on how a plant-based diet, exercise, low-stress and limited contact to toxins could lower one’s risk to cancer by 70%.
An indictment of the food industry
The C Word is also an indictment of a trillion-dollar processed food industry that thrives while we get sick, leaving us, and especially our underserved communities, undernourished and overweight. The perpetrators of a dangerous economic model that chooses profit over people, and turns our bodies into breeding grounds for disease.
The documentary is full of little-known facts, for example did you know that Pam cooking spray has butane i.e. lighter fluid in it? Or that cancer cells actually start their formation in your body when you’re in your teens? They can take up to 15 years before it becomes fully identifiable as cancer?
The C Word is a funny, informative and powerful must-see film about living life to its fullest and investing in one’s long-term health.
