How to make other stacked sugar cookies

Since these cookies are so much fun, you may want to make them again for another occasion.

Or for anytime! It’s easy to modify this recipe to make that work too.

All you do is select the cookie cutter shape you need that comes in 3 sizes.

A great example would be a star since you can use that for the 4th of July or for Christmas.

Then you follow the instructions the same way that we have outlined here.

Just choose different colored sprinkles (or even fun sprinkles like candy canes or star shaped sprinkles) that go with your theme.

So you can do a red, white, and blue themed stars or red, green, and white stars.

Other designs that you can do easily are flower shapes or even pumpkins since you can often find cookie cutters in different sizes for these shapes.

The important thing is that the shapes are sort of circular so that they will support the stacks.

How to stack and decorate the cookies

Starting with the largest sized heart cookie, place a layer of cake frosting on the front of the cookie.

That cookie will be the bottom of the stack.

Apply one type of Valentine colored sprinkle to the frosted cookie, and set it down.

Take the next largest sized heart shaped cookie, and apply frosting to the front of it as well.

Coat that heart cookie with the next color of Valentine colored sprinkles.

Apply a dab of frosting to the bottom of the medium sized heart cookie, and press it down onto the center of the larger sized heart cookie that you already coated in sprinkles.

You only need a dab of icing to hold the cookie in place.

If you use too much, it could seep out the sides.

Start with a small amount. You can always add more frosting if you need it.

It’s also fun to alternate which color sprinkles you use for the top, middle, and bottom cookies.

Take the smallest sized heart shaped cookie, and apply frosting and sprinkles to it as well.

Apply a dab of cake frosting to the back of that cookie, and press it down onto the top of the other two to finish creating your heart stacked cookie.
