If you’re looking for something to bake with all those wonderful Autumn apples, take a look at this Apple Sharlotka Cake. This traditional Russian apple cake is super simple and made with ingredients you are likely to already have in your kitchen.
Enjoy a Russian Apple Sharlotka Cake

A delicious apple sharlotka really hits the spot. It’s delicious apple flavor makes it perfect to enjoy not only for dessert, but also for breakfast!
In fact, it’s so easy to make that you can whip it up as a treat for unexpected visitors.
The secret is the apples. Granny Smith apples work best because they are a bit tart, making them the perfect baking apples for most desserts. They are really the star of the show in this cake, especially when they bake up soft and sweet, surrounded by a moist and delicious cake.
If you are striving to eat healthier, but still looking to satisfy your sweet tooth, Apple Sharlotka Cake is actually a decent choice. There is no butter in the batter, and no frosting either. And with all those apples, you can even pat yourself on the back that you’re getting in a serving or two of fruit!
Serving the Sharlotka

We particularly enjoy serving it not only as a dessert, but also for brunch. If your menu would call for serving a pound cake or a coffee cake, an apple sharlotka will fit in just fine.

This cake reminds me of one that my grandmother used to make. It was really good, and since it’s apple season, I can imagine my family is going to ask for it a lot!
