Britney has a New Album
In Glory Britney manages to sound like a contemporary version of her former awesome self and it’s brilliant.
This album is quintessentially poppy and it’s doused with Britney Jean’s signature whispery whine that we’ve all grown to love.
Britney doesn’t exercise any vocal acrobatics. And somehow that’s OK.
I love how some of the songs on this album seem totally ridiculous when you just read the lyrics, but sonically prove to be cool and intriguing like the out of this world “Man in the Moon.”
Britney even gets a little deep, like in one of my favorites, “Private Show.” I could be reading too much into this. But the song, at first glance seems to be just about her and a lover sharing a moment of intimacy that they think is secret, only to find out an audience is watching. But on a second spin I felt she was looking at her life, which has been on display for the world to see, whether it be appropriate for us to watch or not.
My rating
Score: 4 out of 5
Must Listens: “Private Show” “Invitation” “Man on the Moon” & “Do You Want To Come Over?”
